First visit

Your first visit

A first visit takes about 45 minutes. You talk with the doctor, have a hands-on exam, hear what the doctor recommends and what it costs, and decide what to do. You are not asked to fill in a health history on this website.

Before you come

  • Plan on about 45 minutes

  • Wear what you can move in

  • Bring a photo ID

What happens, step by step

  1. 01

    Step 1: Check-in

Dora gives you a short form for your name and contact details and the practice's consent for care. Your health history is taken in conversation with the doctor.

  2. 02

Step 2: A talk with the doctor

You say what you want from the visit, and the doctor asks questions and listens.

  3. 03

    Step 3: A hands-on exam

The doctor checks the area by hand, and may ask you to move. You can stop at any point.

  4. 04

Step 4: What the doctor recommends

The doctor explains what was found, what care is recommended and the risks, in plain words.

  5. 05

Step 5: The estimate, in writing

You get the fee for each recommended line before anything starts, and you decide.

  6. 06

Step 6: First care and a superbill, if you ask

If you choose care that day, it happens then. You can ask for an itemized superbill.

What to bring

  • A photo ID

For your record at the front desk.

  • A way to pay

You pay at the visit, line by line.

  • Your plan's claim form, if you have it

We can answer questions about the superbill, and the plan decides what it reimburses.

Before your first visit

Do I need x-rays before I come?

No. X-rays are taken only when medically necessary, and your doctor tells you why first.

Can someone come with me?

Yes. You can bring someone to the visit and to the talk about fees.

Ask for your estimate first

The front desk gives it in writing before your visit.
